1. OWKRs
Top pick this week comes from the Org Hacking publication on Medium.
OKR (Objectives and Key Results) usage in organizations is usually a mess. OWKRs come with a new element:
Why (this objective is the best thing to advance our strategy)?
We think that in uncertain business contexts, the actual question could be:
What are the core assumptions underlying our belief that this objective might meaningfully contribute to implementing our strategy?
Worth a read, especially if you’re into aligning strategy with execution.
Org Design blogs
We see Org Design as an essential field for leaders of organizations.
In the conversations with executives, we refer to it as the deliberate set of choices that the leaders make in order to create an effective organizational system, thoughtfully aligning different elements of the organization in order to achieve high performance.
Many times org. design is associated just with reorgs, org. charts and M&As and we feel that this perception drastically limits the value of the field, especially when organizations need to continuously adapt in order to perform.
Luckily, communities of practice like EODF in Europe continuously work with organizational leaders to promote the value of Org Design and, as EODF members, we’re firm believers that at some point most leaders of organizations will become Org Design practitioners.
If you’re curious to read more, we recommend checking out Sergio Caredda's recent list with essential Org Design blogs. Enjoy!
